How to Optimize the Printing of Web Pages

Creating a web page optimized for print is a good way to save money and the environment. Unlike traditional printouts, modern printers allow you to print pages in a manner that matches what you are viewing on your screen. Most web pages are uploaded at 72 dpi, but you can choose to print your page at a higher resolution.

For a web page to be optimized for print, it needs to be able to display the right font size. A page with a stylistic font might look good on your screen, but if you try to print it you might find that it is too small for the paper. You should also consider changing the background color of the page from white to a more readable shade. This will make reading the page a lot easier.

There are many web tools out there for creating a good printout. You can use the Print button on your browser, or you can go to the site and print directly from there. You might also want to check out a print-friendly extension for your browser or install one on your computer.

If you want to print out a page with style, the best way to do it is to add a second stylesheet to your web page. You can use CSS media types for this, or you can use scripts to accomplish the task. You will also want to make sure that the page is consumable when printed. For example, if it is an online store you want to read, you should include the brand logo at the top left of the page. If it is a PDF page, you can use the print button on your browser to make the page a PDF document and print it from there.

Another trick is to use a different browser to view your web page. You can use Safari on Macs, or Chrome on PCs. If you are using Chrome, you can install the Print Friendly & PDF extension. You can then choose your layout and color scheme, or print the page directly from the browser.

Another trick is to click inside a frame to view the page. Often, frames are composed of several web pages, allowing you to print out just the ones you want. You can even customize the print frame itself. For example, you could use the print button on your browser to print out just the first page of the story.

Creating a good printout is not as simple as it may seem. A web page may be optimized for print, but it may also be optimized for other purposes. Clutter on a web page can make printing a pain. You may want to remove ads and other clutter from a page. Some developers will even remove side navigation, or replace it with text links. If you are on a desktop, you may want to consider using a mouse to click on links instead of using your keyboard.
